Russian and foreign scientists discussed issues of urbanized territories’ environment on the basis of NSUACE (Sibstrin)

The Round Table Section "Environmental Technologies Of Urbanized» in English was held in the framework of the XIV International Scientific and Technical Conference «Actual Issues of Architecture and Civil Engineering» on the basis of the UNESCO Chair of Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin) in March 31st , 2021.

Welcoming speeches in English was presented by the Rector of NSUACE (Sibstrin), the Head of the UNESCO Chair Yuri Leonidovich Skolubovich and partners of the university - Professor of the UNESCO Chair at University of Belgrade (Serbia) Marko Ivetić, Professor, the Rector’s Adviser on international issues of Konya Technical Universit (Turkey) Esra Yel
The representatives of such universities as Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (both in Moscow), Belgorod State Technical University, Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin), University of Belgrade (Serbia), Konya Technical University (Turkey), Taraz Regional University named after M.Kh.Dulati (Kazakhstan), International University of Innovation Technologies, Kyrgyz State University of Civil Engineering, Transport and Architecture, named after N. Isanov, (Kyzgyzstan) took part in the Round Table.

14 reports were presented, devoted to urban, architectural, and hydraulic solutions for the renovation of industrial cities in Russia within the framework of the international event. Foreign and Russian participants discussed about their experience, in particular, decision support system for investments on rooftop rainwater harvesting potential in Turkey, the principles of low-carbon design of residential and civil construction in the urban environment, urban monitoring technologies: experience of the complex environmental monitoring of RUDN university campus, modern technical solutions for the drainage system and cleaning of urban collectors, including rainwater collection on the example of a road bridge on the Sava River, near Belgrade (Serbia).

The Round Table’s participants noted the importance of holding such events, in order to demonstrate the scientific and practical experience of Russian and foreign universities in the direction of environmental sustainability in all spheres of human life achieving the UN sustainable development goals and the tasks of the national project "Ecology", the need to develop joint innovative international scientific educational programs for sustainable development between universities in different countries, as an instrument of environmental diplomacy.

The international Round Table within the framework of the International Scientific and Technical Conference «Actual Issues of Architecture and Civil Engineering» was held for the third time. That was the second experience of a remote conference in English for the Institute of International Affairs of the NSUACE (Sibstrin) with the involvement of scientists and specialists from different cities and countries. In particular, the organizers decided to provide grant support to young scientists from the NSUACE (Sibstrin) for the preparation with the reports and presentations for the follow-up conferences, symposia and round tables in English, based on the work of the Round Table’s results.

Rector’s Adviser on international issues of Konya Technical Universit (Turkey), Professor Esra Yel:

First of all, as being Rector Advisor, I would like to express my greetings to organizing committee and to all participants on behalf of our Rector. As two participants from Konya Technical University, we hope this event will conclude with knowledge and experience exchanges and will be the beginning of new future cooperation.

Konya Technical University is a state university setting goals and taking firm steps towards these goals with about 50 year- experience and custom in education and research on engineering and architecture. Our university, aims to be 'Development Pioneer' and has the desire to be a leading university with many studies established on a national approach “Development Based Misssion Differentiation and Specialisation” with expert academicians and highly motivated students. Our university welcomes to international collaborations both at educational and at research level, as well as short term events as conferences, mobility visits etc. 

Moreover, I am the Faculty member in Environmental Engineering Department. The department is giving both undergraduate and graduate degrees (MSc and PhD), academicians has expertise in water, air and land resources, solid waste recycling/recovery, environmental management. Numbers of National and International collaborative studies are being performed. The department is also open to international student and staff mobility programs.
